What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is active holistic care, which is provided to people of all ages, who have complications in their health due to chronic degenerative diseases, and especially those who are near the end of life. Its objective is to improve the quality of life of patients, their families and their caregivers, during the illness, during the last stage of life and bereavement.

International Association For Hospice & Palliative Care (IAHPC), 2018

Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients (adults and children) and their loved ones when they face problems inherent in a life-threatening disease. They prevent and alleviate suffering through early identification, correct evaluation and treatment of pain and other problems, be they physical, psychosocial or spiritual.

How can I help my family member access the Mexican Foundation for Palliative Medicine?

Through a phone call to 33-3824-4066 and provide the patient's information: name, age, diagnosis, address, etc. If during the call it is determined that your family member is a candidate patient, the first visit with a social worker is scheduled for an evaluation to include the patient in our institution.

Does it cost anything?

Every patient is evaluated with a socioeconomic study before becoming a beneficiary. If our social worker determines that you are a candidate to receive the support of our institution, nothing will be charged for the service.

What diseases are treated by the Palliative Medicine Foundation?

Different types of Cancer, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Renal Insufficiency, Hepatic Insufficiency (Cirrhosis), Dementias. At the moment we do not treat HIV / AIDS or multi-drug resistant tuberculosis.
